Originally known as “Groundswell,” Three Days Grace is a Canadian rock group that was founded in Norwood, Ontario, in 1992. The group performed at numerous backyard parties and venues around before breaking up in 1995 and reuniting in 1997. The band’s original lineup, which was based in Toronto, was the lead vocalist and guitarist Adam Gontier, the drummer Neil Sanderson, and the bassist Brad Walst. The group became a quartet when Barry Stock was brought on board as lead guitarist in 2003. Gontier quit the group in 2013, and Matt Walst, Brad Walst’s younger brother, took over as the lead singer.
They have seven studio albums under their current contract with RCA Records, six of which were released at intervals of three years: Three Days Grace in 2003, One-X in 2006, Life Starts Now in 2009, Transit of Venus in 2012, Human in 2015, and Outsider in 2018. On May 6, 2022, they released Explosions, their seventh studio album. The first three albums have received RIAA certification in the US as 2 platinum, 3 platinum, and platinum, respectively. They have each received a platinum, triple platinum, and double platinum certification from Music Canada for Canada. The British Phonographic Industry awarded their second album, One-X, a silver certification in the country.
