Leigh Kakaty founded the American rock group Pop Evil in North Muskegon, Michigan, in the year 2001. TenFive, a band started by Kakaty and guitarist Jason Reed in the late 1990s, is where the band’s origins lie. For “Trenches,” Pop Evil won the 2013 Radio Contraband Rock Radio Award for “Song of the Year.” The group released the single “Eye of the Storm” on April 22, 2022, along with a music video, and a remix of the song named “Into the Vortex” on July 15, 2022. On July 29, 2022, the band released “War Inside of Me,” a song written in collaboration with ZILLION that would appear on ZILLION’s debut EP, Radio Face. On August 26th, 2022, the band uploaded a live version of “Eye of the Storm” from Toronto, Ontario. After “Eye of the Storm,” another single called “Paranoid (Crash & Burn)” was published a month later on September 30th, a music video for the song was later released on December 9th, 2022, and it was used to promote the band’s upcoming album, Skeletons, which was set to be released on March 17th, 2023.
A European tour by Pop Evil that was scheduled to begin on November 2nd, 2022, in Glasgow has been postponed to May 2023.
Ryan Kirby, the lead singer of the American metalcore band Fit for a King, was featured in the band’s third single for Skeletons, “Dead Reckoning,” which was released on January 13, 2023, along with a visualizer.
