A DJ trio from the United States called Major Lazer consists of Diplo, a record producer, and DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums. Diplo and Switch created it in Kingston, Jamaica, in 2008. Switch left the company in 2011 after three years. Then Walshy Fire and Jillionaire took his place. Jillionaire quit the group in June 2019, and Ape Drums took his place. Its music blends various genres, including dancehall, reggaeton, soca, house, and moombahton with reggae. Four full-length albums by Major Lazer have been released: Guns Don’t Kill People… 2009 saw Lazers Do, 2013 saw Free the Universe, 2015 saw Peace Is the Mission, and 2020 saw Music Is the Weapon. Six EPs have also been released by the group, including Know No Better in 2017 and Apocalypse Soon in 2014. Know No Better includes vocal performances from Camila Cabello, Quavo, Travis Scott, and J Balvin, among others. Reincarnated, Snoop Dogg’s debut reggae album under his “Snoop Lion” character, was also notable for being produced by Major Lazer. On the 2018 Billboard Dance 100 list of dance musicians, released in March 2018, Major Lazer came in at number five.
