Three Sacred Souls is a retro-soul band from San Diego, California, whose music draws influences from both Northern and Southern soul as well as Hispanic R&B. The trio’s live accompaniment includes guitars, keyboards, and backing singers. The group was founded by drummer Alex Garcia, bassist Sal Samano, and singer-songwriter Josh Lane. After a number of independent singles found success on the charts, their self-titled debut album debuted on Daptone in 2022.
Throughout the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the group wrote, practiced, and even recorded (socially isolated). In March 2020, right before the epidemic hit strong, they released their first song, “May I Call You Rose?” b/w “Weak for Your Love.” They recorded “Give Us Justice,” a powerful anti-violence anthem composed in the wake of George Floyd’s shooting killing by Minneapolis police three weeks earlier. In January 2021, “Will I See You Again?” and “It’s Our Love” were released. By spring, the band was performing again, albeit seldom. As the year went on, they played bigger gigs and added more songs to their repertoire.
