The Chainsmokers is an American electronic DJ and producing team made up of Andrew “Drew” Taggart and Alexander “Alex” Pall. They first issued remixes of songs by independent musicians. The EDM-pop combo broke through with their 2014 song “#Selfie,” which peaked in multiple nations’ top twenty singles. They have garnered nine iHeartRadio Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, and a Grammy. The Chainsmokers dethroned Calvin Harris as the highest-paid DJ on Forbes’ 2019 list of the highest-paid celebrities.
The single “Roses” from their debut EP, Bouquet, which was released in October 2015, peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Their first top-five record on the Billboard chart, “Don’t Let Me Down,” featuring American singer Daya, took home the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording at the 59th annual ceremony. Their song “Closer,” which featured American singer-songwriter Halsey, rose to the top of the Billboard list for the first time. Collage, the duo’s second EP, was made available in November 2016. Memories…Do Not Open, their first studio album, debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 chart upon release in April 2017. Sick Boy, their second album, was made available in December 2018. World War Joy, their third studio album, landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart upon release in December 2019. Their fourth studio album, So Far So Good, was released on May 13, 2022.
