Sinclair is the stage name of Mathieu Blanc-Francard, a French musician and singer-songwriter born on July 19, 1970.
Que justice soit faite (“Let justice be done”), Sinclair’s debut album, was produced with the aid of his brother and released in 1993. Except for the drums, he played every instrument on the track. The album earned “golden disc” certification after selling 100,000 copies. To promote this album, Sinclair performed 100 gigs, including one at the New Dawn nightclub in May 1993. Musicians from the band Java, notably Matthieu Chedid and Fixi, joined together to form the band “Système Sinclair” for the release of his second album, Au mépris du danger (“In defiance of danger”). He persuaded Manu Katché to appear on his third album, La Bonne attitude (“The Good attitude”), which went on to sell 200,000 copies. In 2001, Sinclair released his fourth album, Supernova Superstar, which he wrote, orchestrated, and produced.
Sinclair’s comeback to the stage, which took place on November 6, 2015, at the Cargo de Nuit in Arles, was announced on Facebook on June 16, 2015. On November 16, 2015, he also performed in Paris at the Divan du Monde. He released the song Elle dit in 2020. The French singer released Hier’s efface, an EP, in April 2021.
