Pitbull, an American rapper, and entrepreneur was born Armando Christian Pérez on January 15, 1981. Pitbull is his stage name in the entertainment industry. He started recording songs in the early 2000s under numerous labels, including reggaeton, Latin hip-hop, and crunk. He released his debut album M.I.A.M.I. in 2004 on TVT Records, with Lil Jon serving as executive producer. Later, Pitbull issued his third album, The Boatlift, in 2007, and his second, El Mariel, in 2006. His breakout smash track “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho),” which peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number four on the UK Singles Chart, was featured on his fourth album, Rebelution (2009). Pitbull’s subsequent English-language album, Planet Pit (2011), included his first US number-one song “Give Me Everything,” following his repositioning as a pop artist (featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer). The song “Timber” from his EP Meltdown, which was also featured in a version of his album Global Warming, reached No. 1 in eighteen nations, including the US and the UK. “Feel This Moment,” the album’s second single, and Christina Aguilera’s appearance on it, reached the Top 10 in the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK.
He sang “We Are One (Ole Ola),” the official song of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, together with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte. On September 27, 2019, Pitbull issued Libertad 548, his most recent album. The RIAA Latin 9 Platinum hit song “No Lo Trates” is featured on the new album (featuring Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha). Me Quedaré Contigo, a song from the album that also features Ne-Yo, was awarded RIAA Latin Platinum on January 28, 2021. Over 25 million studio albums and more than 100 million singles have been sold globally by Pitbull. As of May 2020, he had over 15 billion YouTube views. According to Billboard, he was recognized as the 24th Top Latin Artist of the 2010s and the 45th Top Artist of the 2010s. Pitbull’s other business endeavors include serving as a brand ambassador for numerous organizations, engaging in community service and activism in the Latino-American region, operating a Sirius XM radio station called Pitbull’s Globalization, and owning the Trackhouse Racing NASCAR team. Pitbull has 35 Billboard Latin Music Awards to his name as of May 2019.
