American singer Kelela Mizanekristos was born on June 6, 1983. With the release of her mixtape Cut 4 Me in 2013, she made her debut in the music business. She published the EP Hallucinogen in 2015, which covers a relationship’s start, middle, and termination in reverse chronological order. Taking Me Apart, her first studio album, received positive reviews upon release in 2017.
For her friends, family, and business partners in 2019, the artist created a reading primer that included essays, books, podcasts, movies, and documentaries. Kandis Williams’ Reader on Misogynoir was one source.
The Algorithms of Oppression by Safiya Umoja Noble and The Will to Change by Bell Hooks, as well as the Seeing White podcast and Sonya Renee Taylor’s IGTV films regarding Black labor titled Are you Stealing from Black Folks? The Last Angel of History (1996), which includes interviews with the late Octavia E. Butler and Greg Tate, as well as More on Stealing from Black People: Proper Connection Beyond Capitalism, are also among the books. Similar primers were produced and disseminated during the George Floyd protests and revolutions in 2020 as a result of the material.
