Rapper Destin Choice Route, popularly known by his stage moniker JID (sometimes spelled J.I.D. ), was born on October 31, 1990, in the United States. He is a member of the musical group Spillage Village, which was established by EarthGang in 2010 and includes, among others, Hollywood JB, JordxnBryant, and 6lack. He is signed to Interscope Records and Cole’s Dreamville Records. Along with Smino, Buddy, and Guapdad 4000, he is a member of the hip-hop supergroup Zoink Gang.
After releasing multiple independent films like Route of Evil (2012), Para Tu (2013), and DiCaprio, JID started to gain popularity in 2015. His first studio album, The Never Story, which featured the single “Never,” was widely praised when it was released in 2017. In 2018, he released his second album, DiCaprio 2, which features the singles “151 Rum” and “Off Deez” (co-written by J. Cole) and was well-received by critics. In 2021, he collaborated with the pop rock group Imagine Dragons on the single “Enemy,” which went on to become his highest charting and most well-liked single, landing at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. His most recent album, The Forever Story (2022), debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200 and earned a lot of positive reviews from critics.
