A British record producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ by the name of Fred Again (stylized as Fred again..) or simply Fred (stylized as FRED), Frederick John Philip Gibson was born on July 19, 1993.
Gibson joined a cappella group at the age of 16 in Brian Eno’s studio in London, which was next door to his family at the time. He worked with Eno and Karl Hyde on their two project albums Tomorrow World and High Life in 2014 as a co-producer and songwriter (songwriter only). Furthermore, in 2014, Gibson took part in the Tokyo, Japan-based Red Bull Music Academy.
In 2018, Fred co-wrote the song “Shotgun” by George Ezra, which peaked at No. 1 and spent 12 weeks in the top 3 of the charts. Later on, in the same year, Gibson received credit for co-writing Clean Bandit’s song “Solo,” which features Demi Lovato. He also found success with Rita Ora’s song “Let You Love Me.” Ed Sheeran’s 2019 No.6 Collaborations Project lists 12 of the 15 tracks that Gibson is credited with writing, producing or both. These songs spent a total of 14 weeks at No. 1 on the charts.
The 2020 Brit Awards Producer of the Year went to Gibson. He holds the record for being the title’s youngest producer. The Music Producers’ Association then chose the winner from among the votes cast by a group of A&R professionals from around the industry.
