In 2008, the Los Angeles, California-based indie pop and neo-soul group Fitz and the Tantrums were founded. The band consists of Michael Fitzpatrick (lead vocals), Noelle Scaggs (co-lead vocals and percussion), James King (saxophone, flute, keyboard, percussion, and guitar), Joseph Karnes (bass guitar), Jeremy Ruzumna (keyboards) and John Wicks (drums and percussion) who left the band in 2022 to teach at University of Montana. Pickin’ Up the Pieces, their first studio album was released in August 2010 on the independent label Dangerbird Records to rave reviews.
On the Billboard Heatseekers list, it peaked at number one. Early in 2013, the band agreed to a deal with Elektra Records, and that same year, More Than Just a Dream, their second LP, was released. Their most well-known song, “HandClap,” can be found on their self-titled third album, which was published in 2016. 2019 saw the release of All the Feels, their fourth studio album.
