Faith No More is a 1979 American rock band from San Francisco, California. Prior to September 1983, the band went by the titles Sharp Young Men and, later, Faith No Man. The band’s longest-serving members are bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Roddy Bottum, and drummer Mike Bordin, who have all been with the band since its formation. Several lineup changes occurred early in the band’s history, as well as several big changes later on. Faith No More’s band includes Gould, Bordin, Bottum, lead guitarist Jon Hudson, and vocalist/lyricist Mike Patton.
Faith No More formally announced its separation on April 20, 1998, after producing six studio albums, including best-selling songs The Real Thing (1989) and Angel Dust (1992). Since then, the band has reformed, embarking on The Second Coming Tour in 2009 and 2010, and released their seventh studio album, Sol Invictus, in May 2015. Faith No More took a break following the Sol Invictus tour cycle. The band stated in November 2019 that it would rejoin for a 2020 UK and European tour, although this was postponed because of the COVID-19 epidemic. Touring was set to resume in September 2021 with a brief US tour, followed by previously postponed UK and Europe concerts in June 2022, but all tour dates were canceled, citing mental health concerns.
