Donna Lease Brazile (born December 15, 1959) is an American political strategist, campaign manager, and political commentator who has served as the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) interim Chair twice. She is presently an ABC News contributor and formerly worked for Fox News until her retirement in May 2021. Brazile was a CNN contributor until resigning in October 2016 after Wikileaks revealed that she exchanged two debate questions with Hillary Clinton’s campaign before the 2016 US presidential election.

Brazile, a Democrat, was the first African American woman to run a major presidential campaign, serving as campaign manager for Al Gore in 2000. She has worked on various Democratic presidential campaigns, including Jesse Jackson and Walter Mondale-Geraldine Ferraro in 1984, and Dick Gephardt in the 1988 Democratic primaries. She was the Democratic National Committee’s acting chair in spring 2011, and again from July 2016 until February 2017.
