American DJ/turntablist and Grammy Award-nominated producer of Dance/Hip Hop/Club music, DJ Rectangle.
DJ Rectangle became the official DJ for Def Jam recording artist Warren G in 1993 after winning the US DMC Championship and the International DJ Search, both sponsored by The Box Television. He later toured with Warren G on his Regulate tour and continued to make appearances on various television programs, including Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Jon Stewart Show, Late Night with David Letterman, MTV Spring Break, and London’s Top of the Pops, to name a few.
He released a large collection of battle records that were used by numerous succeeding DJs to win DMC World Championships. He was one of the first DJs to incorporate original freestyles from well-known recording artists into his own mixtapes. Almost 100 nations have heard his mixtapes, including Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Italy, Australia, and Spain.
Later, DJ Rectangle developed into a producer who was nominated for a Grammy. He has worked on albums by artists like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, Dirt Nasty, Mala Rodriguez, and Xzibit which have sold over 2 million copies. Also, he has created music for TV programs including E! Major motion pictures like 1996’s Set It Off, starring Jada Pinkett Smith and Queen Latifah, 1997’s Fakin’ da Funk, starring Pam Grier and Dante Basco, The Big Hit, starring Mark Wahlberg, and 2005’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’, starring 50 Cent, were all featured on True Hollywood Story, Saturday Night Live, and Super Bowl XLIII.
