CeeLo Green (also spelled Cee Lo Green) is a stage name for Thomas DeCarlo Callaway-Burton, an American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actor. He was born on May 30, 1975. His contributions to hip hop and R&B are well known, including “Crazy,” a hit by Gnarls Barkley, and “Fuck You,” a solo track.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Green came to first notoriety as a member of the Southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob. Following this, he started a solo career and put out two albums on Arista Records, Cee-Lo Green & His Perfect Imperfections (2002), and Cee-Lo Green… The Soul Machine is it (2004).
Green participated in four seasons of the American reality television singing competition The Voice from 2011 to 2013 as a judge and coach. He portrayed Murray the Mummy in the 2012 animated feature picture Hotel Transylvania, and also acted in a few television programs and films including his own sitcom, CeeLo Green’s The Good Life, on TBS. Green has appeared in a number of advertisements, including those for 7 Up, Duracell, M&Ms, and the sake company TYKU. Five Grammy Awards, a BET Award, a Billboard Music Award, and a Brit Award are just a few of the honors and distinctions that his work has received.
