Eric Burton, lead vocalist for the American psychedelic soul group Black Pumas, and Adrian Quesada, lead guitarist and producer for the group, are headquartered in Austin, Texas. In 2020, the trio was nominated for a Grammy for the first time in the category of Best New Artist.
On June 21, 2019, the pair released Black Pumas, their debut album. They gave a 2019 South by Southwest performance and took home the best new band prize at the Austin Music Awards. They were put forward for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist on November 20, 2019.
Black Pumas won Duo/Group of the Year at the 20th Annual Americana Honors & Awards in September 2021. Black Pumas were nominated for two Grammy Awards at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on November 23rd, 2021. two times nominated in the Rock category. Their total number of Grammy nominations now stands at six. Both their song “Know You Better (Live From Capitol Studio A)” and the album “Capitol Cuts – Live From Studio A” received nominations for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Album, respectively.
