American singer Kathleen Emperatriz DeLuna was born on November 26, 1987.
DeLuna earned a recording contract with Epic Records after starting to pursue a singing career as a youngster. Her first single, “Whine Up,” which was released in 2007, went on to become a commercial hit, peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and reaching the Top 40 in many other countries. 9 Lives, her first studio album, was not as popular as its first hit, which was released in 2007. “Run the Show,” the third single from the album, was a success internationally and peaked at number two on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.
DeLuna was named “Best New Artist” at the 2007 Los Premios MTV Latinoamerica awards 2007. She took both the TMF Awards’ “Best New Artist” and “Best Urban Artist” awards in 2008. The “Latin Dance Club Play Track of the Year” prize was given to DeLuna’s track, “Whine Up,” at the 2008 Latin Billboard Music Awards. Additionally, she received a Casandra Award for “Best International Artist” in 2008.
