Joe Goddard is a British musician, composer, and DJ who was born on September 12, 1979. He co-founded the English synth-pop group Hot Chip with Alexis Taylor, which is primarily recognized for him as a member. He co-founded the record company Greco-Roman in 2007, and it has released albums by musicians such Absolutely Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Disclosure. Goddard has also produced two solo albums, Harvest Festival (2009) and Electric Lines, and is a member of the electronic band The 2 Bears (2017).
One of the original members of Hot Chip is Goddard. They were founded by Alexis Taylor, a former classmate, and their debut album, Coming on Strong, was published in 2004. Owen Clarke, Felix Martin, and Al Doyle, who had all performed on the album, joined Hot Chip after it was released. The Warning, the band’s second album, helped them become more well-known. With songs like “Holding on Too Long” and “Dangerous,” Goddard and former Horse Meat Disco vocalist Amy Douglas formed the combo Hard Feelings (stylized as HARD FEELINGS), which aims to blend dance music with synthpop and the new wave elements of the early 1980s. Domino published the duo’s debut album, also titled HARD FEELINGS, on November 5, 2021.
