Bobby Raps is the stage name of Robert John Richardson, an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born on December 22, 1992. Thestand4rd, Audio Perm, and Dequexatron X000 were all groups he was a part of.
Gimme Daps, Bobby Raps’ first mixtape, was released in 2011. In 2015, he and Corbin collaborated on the EP Couch Potato, which was entirely produced by Bobby Raps and featured a cameo by Izell Pyramid. The EP’s lead track, “Welcome to the Hell Zone,” made Complex’s “Best Tracks of the Week” list and was described by City Pages as “a thoroughly eerie dose of ethereal hip-hop that sounds like if James Blake cut a record with Earl Sweatshirt.” City Pages and Billboard both gave the duo positive ratings for their live performances.
In 2016, Bobby Raps collaborated with Hamburger Helper’s Watch the Stove viral mixtape campaign. He appeared on the album’s opening track alongside DJ Tiiiiiiiip, a member of the Dequexatron X000 collective.
Mark, his major-label debut, was released by him on Republic Records in 2017[16]. It features Shlohmo and D33J’s production. It was “[Bobby Raps’] strongest body of work to date,” according to Complex.
