Yes is an English progressive rock band founded in 1968 in London by vocalist and lead singer Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford. Throughout its existence, the band’s lineup has changed multiple times, with 20 musicians serving as full-time members. The band has been comprised of guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes, bassist Billy Sherwood, vocalist Jon Davison, and drummer Jay Schellen since February 2023. Yes have experimented with a variety of musical styles throughout the years and are widely acknowledged as progressive rock pioneers.
Yes is a successful, influential, and long-lasting progressive rock band. They have sold over 30 million records globally including 13.5 million RIAA-certified albums in the United States. They won a Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance with “Cinema” in 1985 and garnered five Grammy nominations between 1985 and 1992. They were voted 94th on VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists. They have released 22 studio albums. Yes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2017, with current and former members Anderson, Squire, Bruford, Kaye, Howe, Wakeman, White, and Rabin joining them.
