Years & Years is British vocalist Olly Alexander’s solo project. Years & Years’ music, which began as a band in 2010, has been described as electropop with R&B and 1990s house influences. Communion, the band’s debut studio album, debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart in July 2015, becoming the fastest-selling debut album of the year by a UK-contracted band.
Their greatest successful track “King” from Communion landed at number one on the UK Singles Chart in March 2015, and also charted in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Switzerland. Their single “Shine” from the same album charted at number two in the United Kingdom.
They announced the release of their second studio album Palo Santo in April 2018, which includes the songs “Sanctify” and “If You’re Over Me,” the latter of which hit the top ten in the United Kingdom. The album, which was released in July 2018, depicts a dystopian planet populated by robot-like entities known as Androids with humans as the minority.
