Cameron Jibril Thomaz (born September 8, 1987) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor better known by his stage name Wiz Khalifa. In 2006, he signed with Warner Bros. and released his debut album, Show and Prove. Records from 2007. His Eurodance-influenced tune “Say Yeah,” which charted on the Rhythmic Top 40 and Hot Rap Tracks charts in 2008, became his first small hit.
Thomaz left Warner Bros. in November 2009 and released his second album, Deal or No Deal. He signed with Atlantic Records after releasing the free download mixtape Kush and Orange Juice in April 2010. Thomaz’s debut song for Atlantic, “Black and Yellow,” had a more radio-friendly, pop-oriented approach. The song, an homage to his hometown of Pittsburgh, debuted at number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later peaked at number one. The song became the lead single for his third album Rolling Papers, which was released in March 2011, and also contained the Top 40 songs “Roll Up” and “No Sleep”.
The success of the album was followed by the release of O.N.I.F.C. in December 2012, which was supported by the songs “Work Hard, Play Hard” and “Remember You.” (featuring the Weeknd). Wiz released his fifth studio album Blacc Hollywood in August 2014, with the lead track “We Dem Boyz” as the lead single. In March 2015, he released “See You Again” (with Charlie Puth) for the soundtrack of the film Furious 7, and the song spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
