Warren Zeiders is an outlaw country singer with a flinty voice who specializes in bare-bones C&W with a slightly eerie edge. His “Ride the Lightning” became a social media craze in 2021 thanks to its eerie quality. His viral success led to a deal with Warner Music, which later that year published his debut EP, 717 Tapes.
Zeiders relocated to Nashville, where he worked with Eric Paslay and Rob Crosby to write “Ride the Lightning” over Skype at his manager’s home. “Ride the Lightning” became a surprise hit, leaping from social media to the Billboard charts, where it peaked at 30 on the Hot Country Songs chart. His first EP, 717 Tapes, which he self-released in October 2021, was built around the tune. In quick succession, he released Acoustic Covers (Deluxe), which featured his renditions of songs by Jason Isbell, Afroman, and Tyler Childers as well as a duet on the tune “Outskirts of Heaven” by Craig Campbell.
Zeiders was acquired by Warner in January 2022. “Ride the Lightning” was promoted to country radio by the label, and “Burn It Down” was made available as a brand-new digital single. The EP’s subsequent singles, “Wild Horse” and “Heavy Pour,” came next.
