Ruby da Cherry and Scrim, cousins who started the American hip-hop group Suicideboys (stylized as $uicideboy$) in 2014, are from New Orleans, Louisiana. The pair gained notoriety via the music-sharing website SoundCloud for their harsh, independently created beats, as well as their lyrical content and topics that frequently reference drug abuse and suicide ideation. Virgin Music Label & Artist Services distributes all of its songs through G*59 Records, the label they own and run.
The pair is regarded as one of the most well-liked groups in the underground rap industry and as having a cult following. I Wish to Die in New Orleans, Suicideboys’ debut studio album, was released on September 7, 2018, after the group had previously only issued EPs and mixtapes. Live Fast, Die Whenever, a six-track EP they co-wrote with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and which also included Korn guitarist James Shaffer, was released by them in May 2019.
