The Smile is an English rock band consisting of Radiohead members Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, bass, keys) and Jonny Greenwood (guitar, bass, keys) plus drummer Tom Skinner. They are produced by Nigel Godrich, Radiohead’s longtime producer. Post-punk, progressive rock, Afrobeat, and electronic music are all incorporated into the band’s sound.
The Smile put in work throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns and made their unexpected premiere in a Glastonbury Festival performance webcast in May 2021. They released six singles at the beginning of 2022 and made their public debuts in front of an audience at three live-streamed events in London. The Smile started an international tour in May after releasing their critically acclaimed debut album, A Light for Drawing Attention. In December 2022, they issued an EP titled The Smile (Live at Montreux Jazz Festival, July 2022).
