Survivor is a rock band from Chicago, Illinois, founded in 1978 by Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan. The band had its greatest success in the 1980s, with numerous charting singles, particularly in the United States. The band is best known for their 1982 double-platinum smash “Eye of the Tiger,” the theme song for the 1982 film Rocky III; that record lasted six weeks at number one in the United States. In the mid-1980s, the band charted singles such as “Burning Heart” (US number 2), “The Search Is Over” (US number 4), “High on You” (US number 8), “Is This Love” (US number 9) and “I Can’t Hold Back” (US number 13).
