Snow Patrol is a Scottish rock band from Dundee, Scotland, founded in 1994. Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Wilson (bass guitar, backing vocals), Jonny Quinn (drums), and Johnny McDaid round out the lineup. (piano, guitar, backing vocals). Snow Patrol, originally an indie rock band, rose to fame in the early- to mid-2000s as part of the post-Britpop wave.
Connolly joined Snow Patrol in 2002, and the band rocketed to national prominence after their major-label first album, Final Straw, was released the following year, with “Run,” the album’s biggest song. The album was certified 5 platinum in the United Kingdom. Eyes Open (2006), especially its breakthrough track “Chasing Cars,” which was estimated in 2019 to be the most-played song of the twenty-first century on UK radio, pushed the band to greater international acclaim. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was the best-selling British album of the year. Snow Patrol released their fifth studio album, A Hundred Million Suns, in 2008; their first compilation album, Up to Now, was released in 2009; and their sixth studio album, Fallen Empires, was released in 2011.
