Holly Brook Hafermann (born February 23, 1986), better known as Skylar Grey, is a Mazomanie, Wisconsin-based singer, songwriter, and record producer. Grey acquired a publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group and a recording contract with Machine Shop Recordings under the name Holly Brook in 2004, when she was 17 years old. Under the aforementioned companies, she released her debut studio album, Like Blood Like Honey, in 2006.
Grey co-wrote Eminem and Rihanna’s smash tune, “Love the Way You Lie,” with Eminem and British record producer Alex da Kid, who then signed Grey to his Interscope Records label offshoot, Kidinakorner, in 2010. Grey’s second album, Don’t Look Down, was released in July 2013 via the label. The album charted in the top ten in the United States and yielded four singles. Natural Causes, Grey’s third studio album, was released in September 2016. In April 2022, an eponymous fourth studio album was published.
