Marissa Paternoster plays guitar and sings for the American rock group Screaming Females, which also includes Jarrett Dougherty on percussion and Mike Abbate on bass. In 2006, they issued their debut record, Baby Teeth. The group has been discussed on Last Call with Carson Daly, MTV, and NPR. They have shared the stage with groups like Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, The Breeders, Arctic Monkeys, Garbage, Throwing Muses, Dinosaur Jr., The Dead Weather, and Dinosaur Jr.
Screaming Females recorded a live album in Chicago’s Hideout in the beginning of 2014. Paternoster spoke about the event in a later interview, saying, “The Hideout in Chicago is just one of those venues we really like because it’s small, it’s been around forever, it has a rich history, it’s part of the community, and it just seemed like a really good place to make a live record. Steve [Albini] drove two tape machines into the alleyway so we could record it live to tape. Like Deep Purple or something? Yeah! That’s what All at Once, their seventh album, was released in February 2018.
