Quincy Matthew Hanley (born October 26, 1986) is an American rapper better known by his stage name Schoolboy Q (stylized as ScHoolboy Q). Hanley signed with Carson-based indie record company Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) in 2009 and acquired a recording contract with big label Interscope Records in late 2011. Hanley is also a part of the hip-hop ensemble Black Hippy, which includes labelmates and fellow California rappers Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and Kendrick Lamar.

Hanley released his debut full-length record, ScHoolboy Turned Hustla, in 2008. He later followed up with Gangsta & Soul in 2009. In January 2011, he returned with his first independent album, Setbacks. The TDE-released project peaked at number 100 on the Billboard 200 list in the United States. His second independent album, Habits & Contradictions, was released exclusively to internet retailers a little more than a year later. The album garnered generally positive reviews and debuted at number 111 on the Billboard 200 in the United States.
