David Ryan Adams (born November 5, 1974) is a singer-songwriter, record producer, artist, and poet from the United States. He has 24 studio albums to his credit, including three as a member of Whiskeytown.
Adams departed Whiskeytown in 2000 and released his first solo album, Heartbreaker, to considerable acclaim. The album received a Shortlist Music Prize nomination. The publication of the UK certified-gold Gold, which contained the track “New York, New York,” raised his fame the following year. During this period, Adams worked on many unreleased albums, which were eventually compiled as Demolition, his third solo release. (2002). After his intended album, Love Is Hell, was rejected by his label Lost Highway, Adams produced the classic rock-influenced Rock N Roll (2003). As a compromise, Love Is Hell was published as two EPs before being released as a full-length album in 2004.
