Radiohead is an English rock band founded in 1985 in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Thom Yorke (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards); Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards, various instruments) and Colin Greenwood (bass); Ed O’Brien (guitar, backing vocals); and Philip Selway make up the band. (drums, percussion). Since 1994, they’ve collaborated with producer Nigel Godrich and cover artist Stanley Donwood. The experimental approach of Radiohead is credited with developing the sound of alternative rock.
Radiohead had sold over 30 million records globally by 2011. Six Grammy Awards and four Ivor Novello Awards have been bestowed upon them, as have five Mercury Prize nominations, the most of any artist. Seven of Radiohead’s singles have charted in the top ten in the United Kingdom: “Creep” (1992), “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” (1996), “Paranoid Android” (1997), “Karma Police” (1997), “No Surprises” (1998), “Pyramid Song” (2001), and “There There” (2001). (2003). “Creep” and “Nude” (2008) charted in the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.
