Questlove (born Ahmir Khalib Thompson on January 20, 1971) is an American musician, record producer, disc jockey, filmmaker, music journalist, and actor. He is the drummer and co-frontman of the hip-hop group the Roots (together with Black Thought). The Roots have been the in-house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon since 2014, after previously serving in the same capacity on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Elvis Costello, Common, D’Angelo, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Bilal, Jay-Z, Nikka Costa, and, more recently, Booker T. Jones, Al Green, Amy Winehouse, and John Legend have all worked with Questlove. He is a part of the Soulquarians, Randy Watson Experience, Soultronics, Grand Negaz, and Grand Wizzards production teams. He has four novels to his credit as a novelist. Questlove has received several honors, including an Academy Award, six Grammy Awards, and a BAFTA Award.
