Pusha T is the stage name of Terrence LeVarr Thornton, an American rapper, composer, and record executive who was born on May 13, 1977. He gained notoriety as one half of the hip-hop group Clipse, which consisted of his older brother No Malice, and was primarily active from 1994 until 2010. As Clipse, the two enjoyed smash singles like “Grindin’” and “When the Last Time,” as well as three studio albums and several mixtapes (both in 2002).
Pusha T joined Def Jam Records in September 2010 and signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music imprint. He appeared in Kanye West’s song “Runaway” later that year, which reached its highest position of number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2011, he released his first solo project, the mixtape Fear of God, which was followed up with his debut solo album, My Name Is My Name, published in 2013. Pusha T was chosen by West in November 2015 to succeed him as president of GOOD Music. Before his departure from the firm in 2022, Pusha T was a label flagship artist.
Pusha T has released three solo albums, It’s Nearly Dry (2022), Daytona (2018), and King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude (2015), all of which have received high praise from critics. The latter marked Pusha T’s first number-one debut on the Billboard 200.
