The Pixies are an American alternative rock band founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1986. Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals), and David Lovering (drums) were the members of the band until 2013. They split up amicably in 1993 but reformed in 2004. After Deal left in 2013, the Pixies hired touring bassist Kim Shattuck, who was replaced the following year by Paz Lenchantin, who became a permanent member in 2016.
