In 2003, the Australian metalcore group Parkway Drive was founded in Byron Bay, New South Wales. As of 2018, Parkway Drive had published ten books, including Ten Years of Parkway Drive, along with six studio albums, an EP, two DVDs, a split album, and one EP. Ire, the band’s first album, peaked at number one in October 2015, while Reverence, its most recent album, peaked at number ten in May 2018.
After the arrival of bassist Jia O’Connor in 2006, the band’s lineup has been stable; Brett Versteeg and Shaun Cash left in 2004 and 2006, respectively. Metalcore has frequently been used to characterize the band’s style. Their more recent albums have a more traditional heavy metal sound; their earlier albums had deathcore elements, which were particularly audible on Deep Blue. Screaming vocals, fast guitar riffs, and breakdowns are all part of their sound.
