Michael Ray Roach (born April 29, 1988) is a country music singer and songwriter from the United States. Warner Music Nashville has signed him. Michael Ray and Amos are his two albums for the label. Ray was born in the Florida town of Eustis. His grandfather, Amos “Wilson” Roach, motivated him by playing music for him and teaching him how to play the guitar, as well as having him perform at assisted living facilities. After graduating from high school, Ray decided to start a band in southern Florida, and a disc jockey at WPCV began playing his music. In 2010, he self-released an album, which manager Tony Conway discovered.
Ray won the singing competition The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep after being mentored by John Rich of Big & Rich. Big & Rich’s 2015 hit “Run Away with You” was co-written by him and Rich. Ray was signed to Warner Bros. after winning the competition. Nashville is a recording studio. Tour Bootleg, his first EP, was released in 2014. Two of the EP’s tunes, “Kiss You in the Morning” (which reached number one on the Country Airplay charts in 2015) and “Think a Little Less,” would eventually appear on Ray’s self-titled second album, released in 2015, becoming his first and third singles. Ray’s second single, “Real Men Love Jesus,” was released. Ray went on tour to promote the record.
Ray released the single “Get to You” on June 16, 2017, ahead of his third studio album, Amos. When the album was released in 2018, it yielded two more singles: “One That Got Away” and “Her World or Mine.” Scott Hendricks produced both of his albums.
Ray released the single “Whiskey and Rain” in September 2020, ahead of his fourth studio album, which was initially scheduled to be released in 2021.
