American singer-songwriter and musician Matt Maeson was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on January 17, 1993. He is a member of Neon Gold Records and Atlantic Records.
Maeson released his first song, “Cringe,” in November 2016. In 2018, Maeson performed at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Forecastle. He released two EPs, Who Killed Matt Maeson in 2017 and The Hearse in 2018, prior to the release of his debut album Bank on the Funeral on April 5, 2019. His song “Cringe” peaked at No. 7 on the Adult Alternative Songs list in January 2019. Later, in August of that year, the song spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, making it the new artist’s longest-lasting number-one hit of 2019.
The RIAA awarded “Cringe” a gold certification on February 11, 2020. With “Hallucinogenics,” Maeson reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard Alternative Songs list in August 2020. A week later, the song also topped the Billboard Rock Airplay chart. Maeson was featured on Illenium’s 2021 single “Heavenly Side” of their fourth full-length studio album ‘Fallen Embers’. On August 26, 2022, the full studio album Never Had to Leave was published.
