American indie electronic duo Matt and Kim are from Brooklyn in New York City and are sometimes referred to as MATT and KIM. The duo of Matt Johnson (vocals/keyboards) and Kim Schifino founded the ensemble in 2004. (drums). The group is renowned for their peppy dance music and vivacious live performances, which frequently use samples from other musicians. They began their career playing gigs in lofts and other small spaces, but since then, they have appeared at a wide range of festivals, such as Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Firefly Music Festival.
Together since 2004, the pair has performed and produced six studio albums. The lead song from their 2009 album Grand, “Daylight,” was given a gold RIAA certification. The duo stripped off in Times Square for the music video for “Lessons Learned,” another song from Grand, which received the Breakthrough Video Award at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. New Glow, their fifth studio album, was released in April 2015 through Virgin EMI Records in other countries and Harvest Records in the US. The group revealed its sixth studio album, coming out in spring 2018, in December 2017. Later information revealed the album’s name to be “Almost Everyday,” and it was released on May 4, 2018. On October 10, 2014, the duo performed for nearly 60,000 spectators at Creighton University’s annual Fallapalooza, which was a sell-out.
