Darryl Raynard Richardson III (born January 19, 1984) is an American rapper better known by his stage name Lil Scrappy.
Richardson was found while playing at a bar in their respective hometowns of Atlanta by producer and musician Lil Jon. Lil Scrappy, along with labelmates Trillville, was one of the initial signings to Lil Jon’s BME Records. Through several mixtape releases, Richardson has established a strong name and a devoted fan base in the Atlanta hip-hop scene and throughout the Southeastern United States.
The King of Crunk & BME Records Present: Trillville & Lil Scrappy (2004) was a split-release, with Trillville songs occupying one “half” of the disk and Lil Scrappy songs occupying the other. The album peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200. Reprise Records released Lil Scrappy’s debut album Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live on December 5, 2006. Lil Jon produced the album, which features appearances by 50 Cent, Bohagon, Lil Jon, Olivia, Three 6 Mafia, Young Buck, Young Dro, and Yung Joc. Money in the Bank peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 list, marking his biggest solo hit and most commercially successful single in the United States, surpassing “No Trouble” by one position. The album’s second track is named “Gangsta Gangsta,” and it features Lil Jon.
Prince of the South 2, Lil Scrappy’s second independent album, was released on October 19, 2010, through Real Talk Entertainment, just like his previous independent album. Lil Scrappy released the first single from the album, “Addicted To Money,” on September 8, 2009, but it failed to score on the Billboard charts, hence it was labeled as a promotional single. Subsequently, on September 28, 2010, Lil Scrappy released his first album, “Bad (That’s Her),” which featured Stuey Rock but failed to chart on the Billboard charts, hence it was labeled as a promotional single.
