English synthpop group La Roux was founded in 2008 by musician Elly Jackson and music producer Ben Langmaid. The act’s debut album La Roux (2009) was a critical and commercial success, receiving a Grammy Award and delivering smash singles such as “In for the Kill” and “Bulletproof”. A follow-up album’s recording was hampered by unsatisfactory collaborations, the postponement of two scheduled release dates, and rumors of friction between the two.

In the end, Langmaid quit the band in 2012, and Jackson later recorded a follow-up album in 2014 under the moniker of the previous pair, Trouble in Paradise. La Roux and Polydor Records later split ways since the record was a critical triumph but not a financial one. In 2020, she independently released her third album, Supervision.
