The Kids in the Hall is a sketch comedy team from Canada founded in 1984 by comedians Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. Their eponymous television show aired on CBC in Canada from 1989 until 1995. In the United States, it aired on CBS, HBO, and Comedy Central.
The Kids only created one picture, Brain Candy, which came out in 1996. In the year 2000, they regrouped for a number of tours and comic festivals. In January 2010, they reunited for an eight-part miniseries called Death Comes to Town. On May 13, 2022, Amazon Prime Video launched an eight-episode revival season. Their moniker was inspired by 1950s TV comic Sid Caesar, who would ascribe a joke that did not go over well (or played poorly) to “the kids in the hall,” alluding to a group of young writers that hung around about the studio.
