Robert James Ritchie, popularly known as Bobby Shazam or Kid Rock, is an American singer, songwriter, and rapper who was born on January 17, 1971. He blends rock, hip-hop, country, and metal into his sound. He is a self-taught musician who has claimed to be able to play every instrument in his backing band. All bar two of his albums were produced by him. Kid Rock began his musical career as a rapper and DJ, debuting with the Jive Records release of Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast in 1990. His particular style began to take shape with his successive indie albums, The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Morning Stoned Pimp (1996) and was completely realized on his commercially successful album Devil Without a Cause (1998), which sold 14 million copies.
Hip-hop, country, and rock were combined on both this album and its follow-up, Cocky (2001). “Cowboy,” his most popular tune from that time period, is regarded as a founding piece of the country rap genre. In general, “Picture” (2002) and “All Summer Long” are his best-selling singles. (2008). His musical endeavors have tended to lean toward the country and rock genres with the release of his 2007 CD Rock n Roll Jesus.
