Julius O’Riordan (born 1966), better known as Judge Jules, is a British DJ, record producer, and entertainment lawyer. He is well-known for his DJing, music creation, and long-running radio show, which was a global success. DJ Mag named him the best DJ in the world in 1995.
O’Riordan began professionally DJing in 1987. As a young DJ, he became well-known for his rendition of the rhythm at the Club Valentino venue in Colchester, Essex, where he drew a capacity crowd. He was promptly employed by Kiss, a pirate radio station at the time.
In October 1997, he launched his show on Radio 1. When he first arrived, the show aired on Saturday evenings between 17:00 and 19:00, before Danny Rampling’s show. After Seb Fontaine left the station on July 31, 2004, his show was shifted to Saturday nights from 19:00 to 21:00, ahead of Tim Westwood. The event was billed as “The UK’s Saturday Warm-Up” or “The Weekend Warm-Up.” This time slot was held by the show until September 2007.
