30 December 1947 saw the birth of English musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer Jeffrey Lynne OBE. He is best known for being a founding member of the 1970-founded rock group Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). In addition to “Evil Woman,” “Livin’ Thing,” “Telephone Line,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Don’t Bring Me Down,” and “Hold On Tight,” he also wrote a number of other popular songs for ELO.
All fifteen ELO singles that reached the UK’s Top 10 record charts were produced by Lynne. The UK or US Top 10 albums Cloud Nine (Harrison, 1987), Mystery Girl (Orbison, 1989), Full Moon Fever (Petty, 1989), Into the Great Wide Open (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, 1991), Flaming Pie (Paul McCartney, 1997), and Get Up! are among the albums Lynne produced that are not affiliated with ELO. (Bryan Adams, 2015). Lynne was honored with a star on the Birmingham Walk of Stars in 2014, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.
