Jaden Christopher Syre Smith (born July 8, 1998) is a rapper, singer, and actor from the United States. He has won a Teen Choice Award, an MTV Movie Award, a BET Award, and a Young Artist Award, as well as nominations for a Grammy Award, two NAACP Image Awards, and an Empire Award.
His film début came with his father, Will Smith, in the 2006 picture The Pursuit of Happiness, and he starred alongside his father again in the 2013 film After Earth. He also appeared in the remakes of The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) and The Karate Kid (2010). (2010). Smith returned to acting in 2016 after a three-year layoff, appearing in the two-part Netflix original The Get Down and providing voice-over work in the Netflix original animation Neo Yokio.
Smith’s musical career began with a collaboration with Canadian singer Justin Bieber on the 2010 single “Never Say Never” from The Karate Kid. The song peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 5 Platinum in the United States. He later released a number of mixtapes, including CTV2 (2014). Syre, his debut studio album, was released after a three-year labor of love (2017). Smith’s subsequent studio albums, Erys (2019) and CTV3: Cool Tape Vol. 3 (2020). (2020). As a featured artist on Justin Bieber’s album Justice, he received a Grammy Award nomination for Album of the Year in 2022.
