Fleet Foxes is an American indie folk band founded in 2006 in Seattle, Washington. Skyler Skjelset (guitar, mandolin, backing vocals), Casey Wescott (keyboards, mandolin, backing vocals), Christian Wargo (bass, guitar, backing vocals), and Morgan Henderson (upright bass, guitar, woodwinds, violin, percussion, saxophone) make up the band.
Fleet Foxes rose to attention with the release of their second EP Sun Giant and their self-titled first album on Sub Pop in 2008. The band went on to release the critically acclaimed studio albums Helplessness Blues (2011), Crack-Up (2017), and Shore (2020). Though the band’s commercial success has been limited, music critics have commended its poetry and melancholy productions, as well as the band’s use of sophisticated instruments and vocal harmonies. Rolling Stone named the band’s debut album one of the greatest of the decade, and it was also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. The band has received two Grammy nominations, the first for Best Folk Album for Helplessness Blues in 2012 and the second for Best Alternative Music Album for Shore in 2022.
