Spanish singer and songwriter Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler was born on May 8, 1975. His recording career began in the middle of the 1990s on the independent Mexican label Fonovisa, and he went on to become the best-selling Spanish-language act of the era. He made a successful transition into the mainstream English-language market around the turn of the millennium. He agreed to a multi-album agreement worth US$68 million with Universal Music Group, which called for Interscope Records to release his English-language albums and Universal Music Latino to release his Spanish-language albums.
Iglesias is one of the most popular Latin music performers, with projected global record sales of over 70 million. He has had five top-five hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including two number-ones. Iglesias is currently ranked first among the greatest Latin artists as of October 2020. With 27 singles on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and 24 tracks on the Latin Pop Airplay chart, Iglesias has the most number-one hits overall. More than any other male performer, Iglesias has 14 songs that reached number one on the Billboard Dance charts. He is now referred to be the King of Latin Pop. In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked him as the #1 male dance club artist of all time and the 14th most successful musician overall.
