An American singer, songwriter, and musician by the name of Elle King, Tanner Elle Schneider were born on July 3, 1989. Country, rock, and blues are influences on her musical taste. The Elle King EP, King’s debut EP, was published by RCA in 2012; one of its songs, “Playing for Keeps,” serves as the theme song for VH1’s Mob Wives Chicago series. In 2015, Elle released her debut album, Love Stuff. She received two Grammy Award nominations for the song “Ex’s & Oh’s,” which reached number ten in the US. Of Monsters and Men, Train, James Bay, The Chicks, Heart, Joan Jett, Michael Kiwanuka, and Miranda Lambert are just a few of the artists that King has shared the stage with. She is the daughter of former model London King and actor and comedian Rob Schneider. King utilizes the last name of her mother to set her work and identity apart from her father’s. People are aware of her father, but she asserted to ABC News that she believes her songs and voice speak for themselves and demonstrate her independence.
King has been recognized by the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards, and he has been nominated for four Grammy Awards—two in the rock and two in the country categories. The Guardian claims that King’s music is “steeped in every kind of classic Americana – sassy rock’n’roll, vampy R&B, country sadness, and a little blues.” Nylon and Alternative Nation have labeled King’s music as blues rock and alternative country, respectively. It kind of varies from song to song, depending on what I’m listening to or feeling, says King: “I say that I sing a little bit of country blues, it kind of changes from song to song, whatever I’m listening to or feeling. Sometimes it’s really country, sometimes it’s soulful, sometimes it’s, like, wrist-slitting folk music; sad songs.”
