American ambient, electronic, modern classical, and independent pop musician East Forest hails from Portland, Oregon. Trevor Oswalt, who founded the project, named it “East Forest” after the German pronunciation of his last name (which is actually Ostwald: Ost = East, Wald = Forest). He has so far put out six EPs and eight full-length albums. He has given several concerts in Europe and significant tours of North America. Also, he gave performances at events including Mysteryland, SXSW, CMJ, Lightning in a Bottle, and Arise. East Forest was hailed by the music, entertainment, and pop culture website Altoriot.com as the “sleeper-hit and best-hidden gem” of the 2014 SXSW festival. His innovative use of instruments in his emotionally charged music is unmatched.
